About ME

Hi, I'm Bells and I teach yoga classes online and in person near to where I live in Codsall, Staffordshire. I started practising yoga regularly in 2008 when I was living in London. I was experiencing some stress and anxiety related to my job and thought I would try yoga to see if it helped. The difference I felt after my first class was amazing, so I kept going back for more. Ashtanga yoga was what first got my attention and I fell in love with the Mysore style self-practise.

Since then I have moved to the West Midlands and now live with my husband, two children, two cats and dog that appear from time to time in my online classes. Since my Ashtanga days in London I have experimented with some other styles of yoga: Hot yoga, Vinyasa, Yin, Restorative, Pregnancy and Baby Yoga, Arm balances and Inversions. There are so many ways to practise yoga!

I began teaching in 2020 and my classes are a fusion of all the things I have learned (and continue to learn) along the way. I absolutely love teaching and watching people grow in confidence on their mats. My intention is that my classes are accessible for all ages and abilities to come along to.

There is a perception that you need to be able to touch your toes, or be female or have a certain type of body to be "good" at yoga. My aim is to dispel these myths because none of these things are true. Everyone's body is so different and incomparable to the next person. In my classes we all have a good go at what we can do. Sometimes it all goes quite well and other days not so much!... And that is all part of the fun!

My Classes

Mixed Ability Yoga

These classes are open to all abilities and ages from complete beginners to those who are more experienced. There is no expectation to do all the poses perfectly. Come along and see what your body is capable of on the day. We will be working to improve strength, flexibility and balance. You'll be surprised how quickly you notice a difference!

Pregnancy Yoga

This class is to support expecting mothers through their pregnancy. We start with a chat and move gently, practising yoga poses that support your changing body and prepare you for birthing your baby. We cover breathing techniques useful for labour and always finish with a relaxation. This is a lovely class to meet other like-minded mothers who you see again in my Mother & Baby Yoga class.

Mother &Baby Yoga

This class is open to all mothers who want to start or get back into a gentle yoga practise. Bring your little one along and come and have a hot drink and a chat. We will then do some yoga poses to support your post-natal recovery, finishing up with a short relaxation.

SUP Yoga

These classes run on weekends over the summer months. You do not need to be an expert paddleboarder or yogi to come along. They are great for testing your core stability, whilst being in beautiful surroundings on the lake. It's really good fun!

Other WAY TO PRACTISE WITH ME

121s and Private Classes

121s are ideal if you struggle to get to a group class. Perhaps you have an injury or would like 121 support on how to achieve a certain pose. Or you’d like the convenience of me coming to your house each week at a time that works for you.

I do also take private group bookings for yoga sessions at parties and events.

Workshops

I run workshops a few times a year for students to learn specific more challenging yoga poses. These tend to be inversions and arm balances. You’ll love these workshops if you like testing your balance and strength.

Kids Yoga

I have experience teaching yoga to children in nurseries and schools in the area. I have also run after-school classes for kids and Family Yoga classes in the school holidays. These are fun and interactive sessions where there is plenty of opportunity for kids to challenge themselves and learn tools for managing stress and anxiety,

Retreats

I offer day and weekend retreats a few times a year. These are perfect if you are looking for some time away to recharge your batteries and look after yourself.

I'm a beginner. Are your classes suitable for me?

Absolutely! I have lots of beginners who start their yoga practise with me. My classes are all mixed ability with emphasis on listening to your body. I offer different options so you can scale back what we do or challenge yourself depending on how you feel on the day. One thing you will start to notice when you come regularly is that every day is different. Some days you can feel like it's all going so well and your body moves with ease and other days it can feel like a sack of potatoes. Knowing when to be gentle with yourself and when to push yourself is a big part of coming along to my classes. There is no judgement or comparison. We all just do what we can and see what happens!

What should I wear/ bring with me?

It is best to wear comfortable clothes that you can move easily in. You will need your own yoga mat. If you have any other yoga bits and bobs like blocks or a strap then it can be helpful to bring them along too. A dressing grown belt or tie can work just as well as a strap in most cases. It can be nice to bring a cosy jumper/socks/blanket with you for the relaxation at the end of the class. Some people like to bring water but this is not essential..

Can I eat or drink before a class?

It is best not to have a big meal before coming to a class. We do lots of twists and folds and it can be uncomfortable if you have a full stomach. Leaving a 2 hour gap of no food before a class is a good idea. Drinks are fine

What happens in a yoga class?

Most of my classes always start with a short breathing exercise. This is to bring your attention to your body and calm your nervous system. Then we tend to begin with some gentle stretches before moving into the main structure of the class where we will do standing, seated and reclined yoga poses with the intention of building strength and flexibility. We finish with a relaxation at the end where you get to switch off and allow your body to rest after the class.

How do I book?

Booking is all via me and my notebook and pen so if you send me a message with the class you'd like to come to I can pop you down and then email you all the details on where to go and what to bring with you.
